Lions have a dynamic history

Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects – including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.
Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief – to serve their community.

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization. We have 1.35 million members in more than 45,000 clubs in more than 206 countries and geographic areas.

We are Lions International

For over 100 years, Lions have served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of our neighbors, our communities and our world first. Through the incredible work of our Lion and Leo members, and the support of our association and our global foundation, we are serving a world in need together.

Lions Clubs International

Our association is made up of 1.4 million members in 49,000 clubs who bring hands and hearts to the communities we serve in nearly every country on earth. Our Lions and Leos help hundreds of millions of people every year.

Lions Clubs International Foundation

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) provides grants that empower the service of our members. Since its inception in 1968, LCIF has awarded more than US$1.2 billion in grant funding.

Lions are changing the world

The impact of Lions International crosses borders and covers continents. With 1.4 million members supported by a global foundation, we are a force for good serving in nearly every corner of the world. We’re experts in kindness and equipped to serve when and where we’re needed most.

Student Speaker Contest

Every year every Lions Club in California host a student speaker contest for high school students. Each club hosts this event for their local school districts and sends their winner to compete at the next level contests and all the way up to the state competition. Each win earns them more money for their college tuition. Last year, our local Pomona Host Lions Club’s winner won the whole contest and received over $21,000 for college tuition. This year the subject is “Artificial Intelligence: friend or foe” and applications to compete at the club level are being accepted.

House of Ruth

Every Christmas, the Chino Valley Lions Club hosts an event for current residents in Hous of Ruth. The House of Ruth is a domestic violence non-profit that helps victims of domestic violence by providing shelter, clothes, food and transitional housing. Victims of DV often can’t celebrate Christmas with their friends and families because their abusers know where they live. The Chino Valley Lions host a Christmas Celebration for current residents and buys gifts from Santa. We provide food, refreshments and fun activities providing a sense of community, normality and good cheer for the Christmas Season.

A Touch of Home

In 2017, the Chino Valley Lions Club started our A Touch of Home Project for our nation’s AirForce Personnel. We delivered bags filled with gifts for our nation’s heroes who can’t go home for Christmas. We started small, our first time we delivered 30 bags filled with games, snacks, gift cards and home-knitted hats. Since 2017, we have expanded this service project district wide and will be delivering just under 1,000 bags this year!!
